The Signature, Drama, 8:20′, ITA, (sub ENG). A man has lost his memory and searches for the event that caused his misfortune. He faces the dark incarnation of his beloved, forgotten because of a binding signature on the contract of a women’s company for sale. Filmed in the countryside of Matera, Italy.

The Signature is ideally divided into three parts. The first shows the dialogue between the main character, Tap Loss, and a mysterious entity about a woman whose face has been forgotten. The middle part consists of a flash back of the moment of the “signing” of the contract that causes Tap to lose his memory. The last part shows the protagonist’s vain attempt to retrace his steps. The Signature wants to express the incommunicability that reigns among relationships polluted by ephemeral ideals that replace the most authentic values of human beings. The whole is embroidered with noir tones. Written and directed by Davide Di Marzio. Starring Fabio Di Marzio and Marta Manduca. Soundtrack by Roberto Uricchio with lyrics from Davide’s folk/rock album Wasted Loves.

The S' Thoughts

The S’ Thoughts, Experimental, 8′, ITA (Sub ENG). The three universal parts of the ego, represented by the King, Queen and Warriors, confront each other in a séance and invoke Fate, a god/consciousness, which warps, out of time and as an operating system, the fate of the heroes symbolizing the past, just as Simun is symbolic of the ‘godless modern ordinary man unable to act’. Filmed in Casabalanca, Morocco and surronding natural areas including Sidi Kauki.

The S’ Thoughts represents an attempt to explore the experimental nuances of cinema. The scene unfolds as fate is writing the script as events happen. The filming is the result of collaboration with a group of Moroccan filmmakers who helped the crew navigate the locations around Casablanca and at the desert border with the ocean in Sidi Kauki. Directed by Davide Contini and Davide Di Marzio. Director of photography Edoardo Genova. Set designer Silvestro Lacertosa. Starring Maru Gutiérrez and Julio Piñeiro. Original soundtrack by opera singer Yoosang Yoon.

The elegance of the locations of the Sassi of Matera counterbalances the protagonist’s sense of loneliness. The title is inspired by the popular song by singer-songwriter Leonad Choen. The lack of experience results in poor technical quality, balanced by authenticity and originality.
